Corby Bridge Inn - About us
The Corby Bridge Inn is run by John Kenyon. Brought up just a couple of miles away, he's well known in the area, and is quickly earning a well-deserved reputation as a genial host. A keen sports enthusiast, he's always ready to debate the finer points of Carlisle United's latest performance.
You're always guaranteed a warm welcome when you drop by. The pub is a popular spot for fishing parties visiting the River Eden, and is just 10 minutes or so east of Carlisle, which means you can visit the city's tourist sports during the day, and retire to enjoy the Cumbrian countryside with us in the evening.
The Corby Bridge Inn was Britain's first purpose-built Railway Inn, helping to slake the thirst of travellers on the Carlisle - Newcastle railway line. Wetheral Station is a five minute stroll across the viaduct which spans the Eden, offering spectacular views on the way, and it's after this bridge that the inn is named. Today, you can often find visitors at the bar who are sampling the ale in the railway pubs as they journey along the line.
In the afternoon, Sky Sports shows on at least one of our flat screen televisions, providing entertainment for those taking a break from the river. We've regular entertainment to help the evenings go with a swing too. And if you're a fan of the outdoor life, enjoy a view of the Cumbrian countryside from our Beer Garden.
If you can't bear to be cut off from the wired world, don't worry. When you're at the Corby Bridge Inn you'll always be connected, thanks to our free Wi-fi system. Whether you feel the need to surf or email, our broadband connection will keep you in touch.
